Do we need to warm up before running

This seems to be a no-brainer question. But what I means "warm up" is comprehensive stretching of limbs and body, etc. before the running practice or exercise. From my experience, jogging is the best warm up. That means you don't need to do extra warm up before running. Just to start running at a slower pace is warm up.

Except that you are going to sprint, jogging is the best warm up for running. Because you will stretch and warm up all your body parts that are necessary for running during jogging. It make sense, right? The other factor for not to do stretching before running is that I have seen other people (more than one!) broken their leg tendons during their leg stretching before the run. It is because your legs and body just not yet "warm up" enough for the sudden stretching. Therefore, stretching as a warm up sometimes will be more dangerous.
